Pike are Fun

That's what we call a hammer handle. Congrats now you have to keep trying for that 48" gatorpike! Pike are lots of fun to catch and also good eating.

Now you caught the bug. You are ruined for life. There are worse ways to ruin ones life.
I remember my first pike as a young lad. I was so excited that it was like an out of body experience. Unfortunately there are no pike where I live now. There are bowfin over 10 pounds. That will just have to do I guess. They fight like crazy and will try to bite you like a mad dog, but their flesh is so much like cotton that the natives probably weaved it into blankets.

Fowler has some dandy Muskies in it also, like ADC said- size up to a number #4 or #5 Mepps. Try a Black Fury or Fire Tiger- Good Job!

Fun, ain't it? They are great fighters and very good eating once you remove the Y bones. Have fun in your pursuit of them now. Don't be afraid to use big baits for them. I have caught Pike of that size on a 9 inch lure before.
