I would like to buy a plan jane four wheel pickup,..roll up windows,.simple radio, good engine,.ac optional. Is this available?,..market awaits. No and you can hardly find one with only 2 doors. They don't cost enough to make. No UAW vehicles for me anyway.

If you put monthly dues into a mutual fund every month for thirty years on an 8% return, that's a lot of money a member is giving away for the right to work in that union. No thanks. I'll keep that money for myself and work non union........it's a facade that any person or party is for the working man. We've had both in office over the years and we are worse off today than ever. Wake up people.......ps. I was a teamster in my younger years. Are you breaking over 100k a year ? Have better health insurance and retirement than everyone else you know? Well I do. Been over 100 since the first week of Oct could have been in Sept. Enjoying some of my 4 weeks paid vacation now. Those dues are a less than a tank of gas. As far as investing if you make enough you can max out your 401 and I enjoy that 6% match as well. It's a good gig. I can't find anything as close and have been looking 6 years so I can not have to be 127 miles from home to work. I once asked a retired union guy why they resorted to bodily threats to target "scabs" and intimidate workers to join the union. he said "because it WORKS!" my question: "if it's such a great deal, why would you have to resort to violence?" folks should be LINING UP to join, wouldn't they?

That union wants 40% raise and a 32 hour week.
Bottom line, this is ridiculous. No way should anyone support a deal like that.

PF I remember well the strike and the actions they brought in Burlington Iowa J I Case backhoe plant. Had to hide the scabs location as they were knocking out the windows. They ended up having to bus them in to avoid all the personal vehicle damage.
Knew another that was a member of a trade union that got a phone call letting him know they knew where his wife worked and where his kids went to school.
None of these seem real people friendly.

Well white Martin there are two guys in my plant not company that don't pay dues. I have no problem if they done pay dues. My problem is they still get union representation when they need it and all the benefits. Classic free loaders but it's their choice. Everyone knows who they are and they don't get any threats.
Your a bit native if you think talking to one retired union guy means you got a gooin representation of the entire country. You just got one guys opinion. I guess that's fair enough. still doesn't answer MY question, though...why is union membership dropping everywhere except in government?

PF, why does the union have to represent the non-members? I've heard that before and wondered why. I have no idea. To work there you used to have to join the union. That changed when right to work passed. I don't work in the hall, won't be a union Stuart and generally have as little to do with anything and everything work related including people I work with as I can despite the amount of hours I spend there. I go in do my job to the best of my ability for my 12 or 16 hr shifts and get back home asap after my work week is done. It's just a job that pays the bills, health insurance, and retirement. It's nothing about my identity. It's the best job I have ever had but I would quit in 15sec if I find something that pays even 30k a year less but had comparable benefits and I could be at home every day. But there is not a thing with 45 mins to an hour of my farm and that says a lot considering I'm 35 min from downtown Louisville so I'm not in a small area. Even Ford is a joke of a job compared to what I have due to having to be a temp to higher for years. Currently they have people that have been Temps for over 5 years. And over a decade or so to reach top pay. Ya no thanks.

Not true. Labor costs are only about 10% of new vehicle cost. Plenty of vehicles are built in Mexico and South America for much lower wages and they are just as expensive as US built cars. It’s supply and demand. If people are going to keep buying vehicles at ridiculous prices they will keep raising prices high prices are ALSO due to .gov mandates to the CAFE standards that they arbitrarily set.

Red tape adds to dollars cost and when we talk labor that’s all labor including the janitor to the ceo not just line workers. Everyone on this site union or non union works for one thing to provide for your family period. We all know no one will get rich working for someone else and entrepreneurs s as re a different breed and that is what sets them apart from the rest of the pack. There are very few conglomerates if any that still have family control and they all usually meet the same fate when they go public that through many years and passing the torch they lose company control. That’s how the Busch family lost AB in 2009 just didn’t own enough stock
