If you’re happy, keep doing you. If not change it. Not really anything to argue about there, Unions are the cause of all the non union peoples problems and are lazy turds haven't you heard. Funny how pathetic the non union Ironworkkers I saw were. But that to much to get into. Sure was a lot of mone made going back and fixing all the mistakes and poor welding that didn't pass inspection though. Then you have some that one min plain high vehicle prices on labor cost then admit the price is the same when made in Mexico with lowered cost and poor quality. Talking out both sides of their mouth.

Well my plant makes around 90 million a year profit. This year they won't dut to large capital investments, rising alloy cost, and the large reduction in volume due to the bad marketing choices of the company people at bud light. I spent much of my life there making that profit for them. They can afford to pay me a living wage and good benefits.
For all the people that want to work for less and crap benefits have at it but your no different than the Mexican undercutting good paying jobs. If you don't value your time or are ok living poor carry on. Every hour I spend at work is one I will never get back so it will not be for poor pay and compensation. Well said

The union for the auto workers are putting selfsame out of work with their demands. They do appear excessive but I also don't know the details just news reports. I would greatly prefer to see them strike over the multi years to top out on pay and being a temp for 5 to 7 years . But that is also self serving becuse if those things were addressed than I would have been working at ford's truck plant 6 years ago. But as it was offered I had to decline the offer of employment. Union or not I care less nothing is close to my current job in pay and benefits or I would not be traveling so far and being away from home. Not even the other union jobs seemed to be close. I left union Ironwork after 7 years for my current job pay on the hour was less but the constancy of steady work and benefits was better foe me. I also have only had 2 years in 17 that I have not made at least 20 to 60 k more than my best year iron working. And the years I had lower year end earnings were due to me being off work from injury or sickness for 4 or 5 months. I honestly don't know how family's get by on what the local jobs pay.

You're welcome jalstat!
And also the ones that said the price is driven by the consumer you are spot on! If I told you what the company's have in a vehicle after every bill is paid it would blow your mind!
So yea it wouldn't hurt them to spread a little bit of the wealth to the one's that do the actual labor! So should a wage be set off of profit or skill set? Your comment sounds socialist.

So yea it wouldn't hurt them to spread a little bit of the wealth to the one's that do the actual labor! It would be nice of they had 90 day direct hire and got rid of the tier system. The tire system is the best union busting move there is. We have it at my plant. I'm the last group that has 30 and out. Each year more guys with it are retiring. Won't be long before there are more without than with. At that point they will gladly vote it away from me. ( it the sell out didn't rob me of it still not settled) Point being I would gladly and proudly work for the Ford plant but as it stands now tha would be way to big a step backwards for my family. I have got to say when I saw the pool of potential people that were testing when I did I was hoping I would not end up working with 90% of them. The advertisement I saw said 90 days direct hire. I that that was different maybe the changed the process. So went and did the testing. Yet when they called with an offer it was for a temp position. That was on a Tues and they wanted me at work the following Monday. Lady had no other info. So I declined politely.

Our wages are based on skill set, I’m in skilled trades so my wages are higher than a non skilled position. I was just making a blanket statement to share the wealth with the ones that actually do the work versus the ones that set in an air conditioned office. And no I’m a far right leaning conservative! I have to ask what is you skill??
