generally if I feel like I know something on the topic yes I try and give the info I have.
if I am not posting on that , like calling cows I don't feel like I can add to it at all , since I occasionally help with cows but it really isn't my thing unless it needs a bullet and a knife to get ready for the freezer.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Asking about the question or the advice given? Thats part of my thread because the question is vague with few details Vague and few details are how threads get derailed and you get lost keeping track of all the rabbit trails that get launched. Thats why I like to ask the questioner questions when the question is vague. That way we can get the person thinking a bit and end up getting some specific questions that lead into specific answers.

So you respond to a thread question with advice or opinion to a question that seems complete. After you respond, you get a answer (sometimes maybe sometimes not). Then you realize there is more to the question that really was not explained with as much detail when the question was asked initially. So your initial answer is not relevant. After responding back and forth for a least three pages do you either give up at some point or feel like an idiot because you now find out what you responded to was not even a complete question to begin with.

If I have experience or knowledge of thread and respond. Sometimes you give advice because you what worked for you and know the ins and outs from experience with the topic.

***ADVISE*** Before making an important financial decision, sleep on it overnight. Before you marry a girl, look at her mother. That's what she'll look like in 30 years. Don't buy that new truck. Put a couple thousand in the old truck and drive it a few more years. Instead of buying coffee at convenience stores, make your own at home and put it in a thermos, take it with you.
Hows that? Exactly! now you can see my point as your response is not relevant.

"And it is also said," answered Frodo: "Go not to the Elves for counsel, for they will say both no and yes."
"Is it indeed?" laughed Gildor. "Elves seldom give unguarded advice, for advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise to the wise, and all courses may run ill. But what would you? You have not told me all concerning yourself; and how then shall I choose better than you?"
One of my favorite quotes from the Lord of the Rings books

Lots of googlers and parroters chime in. But there is always a couple you can tell are giving the first hand advice.

Giving advice is a pain often if they argue with the advice you give them or that guy says that it’s all wrong then repeats everything you just said. LOL About as rewarding as setting folks up and never hearing from them after that again after they got what they wanted.

Interesting you would respond that way because this kind of leads me to more thoughts I have been contemplating on for some time and was going to get to it someplace in the thread but you got to it sooner than I expected.

Most folks give unsolicited advise to boost their self esteem. Makes them feel better about their self; and their decision making process. I am sure that could be the case sometimes. I try to respond if I know something about the subject because I truly want to help the person with an answer. I usually wait to see if someone has already offered an opinion the same as mine before responding.

LOL About as rewarding as setting folks up and never hearing from them after that again after they got what they wanted. I have never had that occur when I help someone asking for advice. Seems counterproductive for someone to PM you for advice then start arguing with you. On the open forum where advice is solicited from everyone you often see people argue about advice but not usually the OP.
