I have heard so many MT people say the wind doesn't blow in Mt. Well, let me tell you it does and most don't know anything but so they think it isn't windy here!! In the eastern part is bad but the west is horrible almost all the time. Glacier, Great Falls, Livingston and south are windy SOB. You learn to walk sideways just a normal way to walk here. Lol

When I used to flyfish on the Bighorn in November, sometimes all you had to do was hold the rod out and let the wind blow the flyline and fly. You would have to slap the water with the rod to get the line down. I know, I was crazy, but it was fun.

The most miserable place I've trapped is Converse Co in the Bill aria to Wright. .
You learn to park into the wind or you will have tweeked door hinges.

Yes, I love to fly fish so know exactly what you are saying. You can fly fish in wind, but it is a miserable day.

Elk mountain area can be nasty also there’s a reason they put up so many wind turbines up down there and in Shirley Basin Have seen it really blow around Green Mountain and Jeffery City also

I lived there for quite a few years. When it was calm it was amazing, but when it was windy it was miserable. Where I lived the soil was very sandy and with all the worked fields it was like living inside a sand blaster.

That's why I won't live east of the divide.

West of the divide in the NW region is very nice, though depending on the river valleys and mountain ranges, wind events still can happen. But nothing like the eastern parts. There's a range just north of me that I have watched actually turn substantial storm cells from their direction, to suck them up that valley to the north.

We have our share of high windy days here in the Snake River Plain in SE Idaho west of the Continental Divide.

South Dakota is always windy due to two main factors. North Dakota blows & Iowa sucks…. lol

I love it for hunting. No better cover than some stiff wind. Bring it on!

Yep that is true!! I'm a bow hunter so not always ideal for that but can agree wind does have some good points for sure.
