This, older frigs and freezers could take the cold, new ones unless rated for cold outside temps, you will have problems.


It is my understanding that newer freezer base there internal temps on ambient ait temps. that doesn't make a bit of sense to me but apparently models like that will shut themselves off when air temp drop into the 40's.

Older freezers have no issues with cold.

circuits in the newer models = problems especially if frost free as the heater goes on and the defrost freezes up trying to drain
most freezers are -17c
and the compressor oils are quite sluggish at those temps

So the little one I just got looks like a newer one. I never knew they had a little heater in them. I may as well unplug it in winter cuz the thing will be trying to heat.
