My minnow traps are about 40 plus years old some newer but I'm needing some new ones. I see they make fabric mesh ones and all different kinds and shapes. I have the wire mesh two funnel end type.

What is the best to get and any recommendations will be helpful.

Some of the new cloth mesh traps are very close to the clover leaf metal bullhead/baitfish traps and should work well like they do, being the same design. I have not tried any of the cloth mesh traps, but they should work.

coon and otter like to drag up the mesh ones and take them apart for the minnows inside. alot of different makes, like your type, available on amazon. local outdoor type stores in your area should have them too, for a bit more money.

I make my own out of hardware cloth and paint with black rustoleum.
Same as making funnel traps for rats.

Thanks everyone. I have made a few through the years and they work well. As cheap as they are I will mostly buy a few more funnel wire mesh style. They work and if they last another 25 years I won't care after that.

Beaver have destroyed more of mine then anything.

Yep, less rust and think that is the way to go.

We used those clover leave type traps In ND. There were times that yo could hardly pull the trap out of the water that they were so full of minnows.

Most states have no to few restrictions on trapping minnows or bait fish in privately owned waters.
