About to be mixing up some lures and bait for this season.

I personally have not noticed if the marten and lynx are checking my sets out more or less with the skunk. Have you guys seemed to notice if they do like it up here?

It has been a conundrum to me considering we don’t have skunks up here.

Wouldn’t the animals start to associate the skunk smell with us trappers?

Should I make a bottle of lure with skunk in it lol

I personally haven't found skunk to be necessary and in some cases like fox and wolves; they tend to avoid it. I don't use much lure these days but some of the ones that I've had good results with had no skunk at all. When your trapping a new area it's a bit of trial and error to see what works best for you. I only use green fish for marten as it's outperformed every lure I've tried. Lynx can be finicky so I offer them a cornacopia of visual and smells combined with snares. Fox/ cat urine with fox/ cat gland in it mixed with salmon oil ( 50/50 ) in a squirt bottle has worked real well for me. It turns white like milk when you shake it up. Works in a cubby with bait or on a scent post, just squirt and go...............

First, consider how many skunks occur naturally on your line.

In the business, we call that a "clue!"

I go without the skunk. Found it to be a roadblock to have the stuff permeated in my clothing and on my hands. It made me hesitant to handle wolf gear after handling skunky lures in fear of educating wolves.
Nevertheless, I do well without any lure. Kinda moved away from using it at sets that have had repeated success or when setting on sign.

Skunk brings in marten and wolverine on my line.
Wolves go out of their way to avoid it but foxes and lynx is 50-50 whether they’re interested

Gor lynx and marten sets I use Skunk Junk. Works pretty good for me. The flip side of that is the yotes and fox avoid that stuff like the plague! When it comes to lures and baits every area is different. Try stuff out and see what works for your area.
