You just condensed an eleven minute dissertation to eleven words. Thanks, I got the same understanding, "IF PRIME" and "WE CAN TAKE IT" I understand about being cautious with prices this early, that's just good business when you aren't certain, but take note, "IF PRIME"..........And, coyotes are the toughest item this year.

I mean who wouldn't buy it if they could only buy prime fur. Travel around with a truck and buy prime fur only at my price. The thing is he buys a lot of junk because that is what people bring him. Local type
small trappers/hunters do not care about prime fur. Then they complain cause they get crap prices and then you tell them why but it does not matter, its the buyer paying cheap prices they say.

Fur garment sellers need to create fairly widespread desire for their products, if we are going to see prizes rise again. I still thinking giving fur garments to some of the most popular influencers, who have millions of followers and then paying them to wear and talk about those garments, is the best way to grow the demand.

Canadian avgs will probably be in the mid-$30s.

At least it's positive news. None of us are getting any younger waiting for average prices to rise to a point where we'd be making more money trapping than flipping burgers at McDonalds. Get off the couch and take a kid with you. There will come a day when you won't be able to get off the couch.

I certainly wonder if "we'll take it if it's fully winter prime" is truly positive news. I do heartily agree with get off the couch and take a kid is a great message! Coyotes being "the worst item to trap this year" isn't all that great of a news item. They may be the new coons, only the best, fully prime, far northern, good color coyotes will be saleable. That sounds like Saskatchewan and Alberta selects.

If the kids start now they will always be able to claim, "prices used to be worse when I started." Unfortunately, I don't get to make that claim. frown

Who does?

1960s . . . 'rats were about a buck apiece.

What did a buck buy at McDonald's then?

hamburger - 15 cents
fries - a dime
shake - a quarter

Load up . . . 4 burgers, fries and a shake and still have enough for the tax . . . all under a dollar.

Prices today? Not sure, but guessing . . .

hamburger - $2.50
Fries - couple bucks?
shake - maybe $3.50

Load up . . . 4 burgers, fries and a shake . . . about $15.00

We were rich, didn't know it.

I've noticed that the river banks have gotten steeper too.

Muskrat,
Don't go thru a burger joint drive thru. $15 will only get you one burger, fries, and a soft drink. For the shake, instead of the soft drink...you will go over $15.

Get out on the trapline and trap (your body will thank you in a couple weeks after the initial strain)and pot a freezer full of meat while your at it.
Then you wont have to live on that other crap.
Eating that crap is why you cant get off the couch.
