Surgery this week. Will be looking down, literally. Have to sleep face down and remain that way following surgery for a couple of weeks I hear. Meet surgeon this afternoon.

Who has had this? Any tips you can share?

Well...at least Biden will have a place to park his bike....with you sleeping face down.

Good luck on the surgery.

like most advice questions on here people do not explain or know all the details. Maybe they have a hard time reading not sure but at any rate my wife had this happen but without further details my advice may not be worth a pot to pee in.

For the record, I don’t support Biden and I am a registered Republican. I don’t support Trump either. Wish we had much better choices.

Good luck and God's speed on healing.

my dad has had both eyes

yes looking down for a week with the gas bubble in his eye

he has been good for several years now since getting the surgeries done.

he had a chair sort of like a portable massage chair delivered to the house by the medical rental people allowed him to sit in a down facing position so he didn't hurt his neck which is also fused.

I am guessing you have blood pressure issues ? he did , if you do try and get that under control.
he was working crazy hours , high stress when it happened.

he had also been put on steroids in the early 1980s for breathing issues working in bad air , that was for a few years they think that contributed to the weakening of the eye tissue.

he retired at 57 because that job was going to kill with the stress he has been much better all around since retiring.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Been there. Just torn on right eye, almost detached on left two years later. 12 days looking at my crotch. First night had my face looking at mattress with a pillow on each side. After that, I could sleep on left side with head tilted towards down. I put another pillow behind me so I wouldn't roll onto my back. No TV, no reading, no computer, no driving. It was a long 12 days. Then the gas was only half gone, but I could do stuff. It will be like you have a level in your eye. As the gas finally gets absorbed, it will be like a bb in a cup. Shake your head a little and watch it roll around, lol.
Eyes have been a life long phobia for me, so I made sure i was under general anesthesia. I wanted nothing to do with it. An hour later it was done. Had a patch on for a couple days.
My Dr said tall people with early cataracts (I was 47 and 6'6") was 100x more likely to get a torn or detached retina.
Worst part was it happened one month before going to newfoundland for moose, and they did the surgery one week before I was supposed to leave. Couldn't go of course. The rest of the guys were already home while I was still restricted to lifting no more than 5 lbs.
Also, expect to be very sensitive to light, and your eye getting cold with wind or low temps. Good luck.

3 of my siblings have had detached retina's. All had the laser surgery and I have not heard of any more problems. Worst problem is my wife told me I couldn't hit my brother in the back of the head any more. I told her it would help drive the retina back onto the eyeball, but nope still forbidden.

Back from retina center. Wrong diagnosis by optometrist. Have a form of arthritis that has caused the white of my eye to swell, thus wrinkling my retina. Got to see an RA specialist. Prednisone for now.

Made me happy. Didn’t want retina surgery.

Good deal. Glad to hear. Always good to see an ophthalmologist for sure.

Been through it. Not fun, at all. Set timers for your drops.
