Nice bull. Snow coming tonight so things will be changing.

Interesting to see the picture of the nice moose. About 10 years ago I drew a tag and harvested a bull near west yellowstone. The bull was similar in size and also had a dark black coat with a beard/dewlap.

I was told the darker the hide the fatter the moose. Seems to be accurate too as I find the light coloured ones to be thinner in body fat

I don't think that moose would be legal for most hunters in most of Alaska. It's hard to tell from the photo, but I only see two brow tines and it doesn't look like a 50+ inch spread. Nice moose though. Should make someone a good batch of meat.
Also, the near antler looks smaller than the other, though not dramatically so. I once shot a moose with a big antler and the other real small. If it had two antlers the size of the big one, it would have had a 68" spread. Someone told me it was likely an old bull. The meat wasn't very good, the worst of any moose I tasted.

Jim This is a Shiras moose which is smaller. Any bull in Montana is legal if you can draw a tag which can take a lifetime and more. Probably 5 to 7 years old moose.

Yeah the road into this was flooded out (Gone) for well over a year. Changed the drainage completely. We see a lot of moose, just not many nice bulls.
Thanks for the info crew, no good luck hunting deer but we are scouting/ an beaver work.
