Perfect. I still appreciate this every day after living harder, not smarter..."off grid" for a few years....no one truly lives "off grid".

The smell of gunpowder.
The warmth of wood heat washing over your face and smelling good food , coming in from frigid cold temps.
The sound of a Varied Thrush , a loon, in spring.
The total quiet of a vast sweeping U valley , sitting above treeline looking out over jagged peaks
The Aurora Borealis
Petting soft glossy fur
Singing harmony in blended perfection with another musician
Alfalfa smell after a rain or harvest.
The sweet corn smell of a clean horse.
The smell of leather .
The echo of wood being chopped at distance in deep woods.
The power of a V8 engine and glass packs.
The beauty of wood grain in fine guns.
Extending kindness to others.
Making exquisitely happy , one dearly loved.
Enjoying being alive.

neatly stacked woodshed with enough dry wood to last you all winter.
smell of woodstove lit first time in the fall.
golden eye whistling overhead.
seeing a shooting star.
too many to list really. the simple little things are the only things that really matter.

Wife and I fished a nearby lake from our canoe and yellow perch hit minnows non-stop. Enjoyed a sunset and fire on the patio with some Wild Turkey on ice. German Shepard by our side.
Last warm day here as cooler weather is coming. Great day. Simple things, make life content.

That is why it has stayed new, unfired in the box since 1984. smile I do appreciate a fine chunk of walnut. I have a lot on nice wood stocks in the shop and one for a Marlin 336 that is probably 5X Fancy.

Barred owls hooting and laughing at dawn.

Great horned owls hooting on a cold night.

Screech owls whinnying.

Sitting around a snapping/crackling campfire on a cool night.

Listening to whippoorwills.

Listening to chorus of frogs in these southern swamps on a warm night.

The smell of fresh mowed grass.

The smell of smoked bacon frying in the morning.

Cutting into a ripe watermelon.

The sound of rain on a tin roof.

Cardinals and bobwhites waking up at dawn.

The smell of raked up leaves burning in the fall.

Hoss, that's my Weatherby ...with bird's eye swirls, flames , from forestock to butt. It is five dimensional in sunlight, changing depths of tones like the Aurora Borealis. I prefer it's bright and dark contrast colours , because you see the depth of changing dimensions as it shifts in the light. I call it the most beautiful rifle in the world grin

Swamp Wuff....how could I forget bacon ? And coffee in the morning...

That first day which comes along it the spring when all of the songbirds sing their songs as loud as they can, trying to outdo each other.
The smell of oatmeal which the dirt road would put out on a dry summer day back home where I grew up. I have no idea why the dust clouds smelled of oatmeal, but it sure did. Enough to make a poor hungry child's empty stomach growl.
