Figured I’d share a few photos from my fisher line over the last few days. 75 degrees the first 3 days and 2 days of pouring rain. We have a short window in parts of NY, but finished out with 10. Even with the ridiculous weather I saw more guys out trapping this year than in years past.

Another 6 weeks and they would be nice and prime.
What is wrong with that state ?

What is wrong with that state ? Sounds like there may be some improvements coming down the road, we’ll see. They still grade pretty well at FHA regardless of what folks say. Nice catches !!!
How many sets were you running to catch that many ?
Good deal !!!!

What is wrong in New York is our DEC biologists! The short October season in the southern tier counties is a prime example. We finally convinced them of a fisher decline in the adirondacks, so what did they do, but shortened the season ON THE WRONG END.. No attention to harvesting these animals when they are at their best. The bird brain that was behind this has quit the department, twice, and moved to Florida and we are stuck with his decisions.Politics plays a huge roll with these guys and they are far more interested in covering their .They completely ignored their own St.Lawrence county study that prove a later season had no negative affect upon the population.Their college theory of TPUE ( traps per unit of effort) easily can be blown apart by a number of variables. I for one am disgusted with pelt sealing, turning in skulls, having to keep daily logs, and having to get a seperate permit to trap fisher and marten.Say what you will, but a december fisher will grade far better than one caught in October.

Nice pics, nice line and great catches.
NY isn't the only state with screwed up regulations. My camp is six miles from the south-central NY state line. Our season opens December 19 which is good but we are only allowed a single fisher. We obviously have a population that could handle many more trapped than just one. I'm not that far from where you caught ten!
Eh...wot?

Yup, every state has its pros and cons. A lot of NY trappers don’t realize how good we have it compared to many places. It’s obviously earlier than most of us would like but we work with what we have. If it were up to the internet folk we’d all be better off sitting on the sidelines watching trapping videos on YouTube because the fur isn’t at its peak primeness. I’ll take our regs and early dates over a 1 or 2 fisher limit (like other states have) every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Hopefully it improves in the near future, but until then I’ll be trapping. Pick your poison guys!

So Lugnut he is in western NY? I have only been fishing out that way. Nice catch anyway. Your opening look a lot less than the 6 inch allowed. In Pa it is 49 square inches. So I made my boxes fit both states......jk

That is interesting, will have to have a few that way from now on. I liked to hear about the opening being only 5 inchs. I have very few places where a incidental domestic would be, almost none really. I like your wire with wood slots, right now all mine are plywood only and a bit clumsy to handle. I can easily carry 4 as half the cages have short handles and the other half have longer handles, so two in each hand. Yours are nicer than mine. Where in NY are you? I am in the western Adirondacks south of Canton, St Lawerence/Jefferson county region.....jk
