Anyone here do it? Prices for 1#ers are CRAZY!
been doing it for the past few years but often can't get a tank to fill up. Sometimes, bout all I can get is 1/2 tank. Any tricks to use?

I freeze mine, for days (just cuz I throw them in when they get empty), and fill in one shot. If I wait till I can't hear anymore going in, I have let them "vent" outside when they heat back up.
For those that do, do you have trouble with them on a soldering torch? Mine seems like they get vapor locked or something, until the fuel is purged for a bit.

I position the safety bleeder on the 1 pounds up when filling them, then use 90 degree needle nose pliers to pull out the safety until LP comes out, then they are full.

I have the stuff to do this also. I guess I'm a bit confused on why everyone is using a freezer. Liquid propane is -88 degrees. It cools the receiver tank to create a pressure change, which creates a vacuum.

Cold 1 lb bottle and warm 20 lb tank. No need to screw around and purge when you have a substantial temperature difference. It's a minute job if you're slow. That’s exactly how I fill mine.
