He was my dad's favorite, one year I bought tickets for early father days present. He coached for Texas tech at that time and they came to play Missouri. Dad was the only one in our section wearing Texas tech wear.

College I had a professor that went to Texas tech she said he was a good guy, his 1st check from the university he donated it to the library so they could get more books, I thought that was awesome.

The only haters are the ones who never played for him.
Yes he got heated from time to time. Only because he cared so much. Passion for the game, one might say.

IU basketball was and never will be the same since Coach Knight left the program. He turned boys into men.

Ol dad

I had forgotten about that request. He probably meant it when he said it. Lol The last time that I saw him on TV was when he was endorsing Trump.

Great coach and a good man. He sure had a temper, but he was passionate about what he did so it came out in many ways.

I was actually watching the game when he threw the chair. Memorable.

Always admired him despite his flaws.

Who doesn't want to throw a chair from time to time. He had the stones to do it. I'll bet he received better calls from the refs after that.

Really was a good coach. He won over 900 games and did that without having elite players, he was able to find coachable athletes and win.
Side note. When he was leaving Army he had signed to be the UW Badgers head coach, but wanted to wait on the announcement so he could contact several people. The UW athletic department leaked his signing and Knight told the UW to take a hike. He went on to IU and we floundered in the Big 10 until Bo Ryan came on board. He did not compromise in coaching or life.
