Permits have always been good for the whole season, Dec 26 to Feb 9. However trapping license's run on the calendar year so you will need a 2023 license and a 2024 license. Permits are good for 8 beaver and beaver are easy to catch so pic which year you want to trap and then buy only that license. Eric

Like Eric said above, your beaver permit is good for the entirety of the season, it's your trapping license that is not. If you plan to trap on a WMA - some are not open to beaver trapping until January 1st. Generally it's those that they stock pheasants on. Make sure you claim your permit by the deadline, or it will go into the OTC sales.

I live over in 19... didn't get permits, so hoping some OTC ones become available. Dang out of staters...LOL just kidding. I'm sure there's plenty in 3.

I live on the border of zone 1 and zone 2.Have trapped both those zones and once in zone 4 but never have trapped beaver in zone 3 as that is too near the city for me to venture!! May be hard to find trappable beaver properties in 3.

Get a non resident licence for NY and trap beaver from mid November to early April, as many as you want.
