That looks like that is from NAFA. I have the same one. I'm not sure the one posted would grade as a true canary by NAFA standards? Mine never did.

In western interior Alaska in far western Unit 20, canaries were about 10% of the catch. Very high proportion. Nice one, Boco.

Does it contain info on other, more southern fur bearers as well?

That is from the WFMC - the trappers bible-I thought all trappers had one.
It covers everything.

Really cool catch. I’ve only seen one marten and that was in Colorado and it was orange. I had no clue that was a rare color. That was 20 years ago and I can still remember it, so energetic and seemed to glow in the sunlight shining thru the evergreens.

10% that is remarkable Gulo.
I hope this guy was able to spread a few of his genes around before I snuffed him.

That is why I prefer foothold traps over coni types.
I used to catch a lot of those canaries but they made the other 50% of my catch look bad.

So I always release that color phase now.

Since I catch 60 to 70 percent pale to extra pale marten and they almost always bring the least money, I'm not enamored with pale marten. I find black marten beautiful. smile

Well then, with limited to only one colour, you'll nevah be able to have a hat built like mine, then ... every marten in this hat is a different colour. Especially the bright orange one, a "canary" I call OJ, which is in the rear, contrasting nicely in showcasing the three tails. Shown with flaps down in this pic. There's a place for all colours ! cool

Thank you, Boco. Your black marten is gorgeous. Imagine the combo of your OJ and Blackie together in a hat.
