I have had this for 5 years or so and always thought it was an insulator. But stumbled across what it actually is this evening. I wait for some more guesses and then post the answer.

Ok, I rotated the picture to the correct orientation for its use.

I actually think it is for snuffing out cigars but I could come up with several more colorful guesses.

Not bad 160user and crowfoot got it close enough. It is a slag glass ashtray used in the Ford Model T and Model A era. And apparently not very common and worth a good amount as I found out when I looked it up on google which lede to ebay.

If I hadnt stumbled across a post about them I would have called it an insulator till the day I died. Thought it was nice when I thought it was an insulator, but its a cool find now that I know what it really is. Picked it up in the woods or a field somewhere along the way while hunting wish I remembered exactly where so I could go look some more.

And I was going to say not a pig castrator but definitely something for pig contraception.
