So yesterday a friend's wife hands me a slick little booklet that was professionally pinted. It was a color Christmas wish list for her and her husband. It had particular items pictured, and where to buy them. Almost like a bridal registry gift suggestion list.

I was dumbfounded, didn't know what to say. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing before? I think it's about the most tasteless thing I've ever heard of. Just plain whacky.

Do you typically exchange gifts on Christmas?

Get her a potato for Christmas and have a conversation with your buddy.

Reminds me years ago a good friend of mine and his wife came to our house.as soon as they walked in his wife headed for the kitchen fridge and grabbed a beer without asking me or my wife.we couldn't believe it and neither could her husband.think I would give them a bag of coal .

I would never do that and would probably laugh out loud at any adult who handed me a Chritmas "wish list" of any kind

must be a different thing out west, we don't give gifts to our adult friends, we invite them over to the house but no gifts other than a big meal.

Nope, I've never heard of it out here before. However, this is the land of fruits and nuts, lots of nonsense starts out here. Get ready for it.

Lugnut,
No, we don't typically exchange gifts.

He winters in Washington. There aren't any new friends with common sense available!

Take you some pictures of expensive stuff out of the cabelas catalog and staple them together and give that to her next time you see her.

We don't exchange gifts with anyone except our own kids, took awhile for my wife to get with the program , she used to send gifts to nieces and nephews and her sister and her husband but I finally weaned her of such nonsense, lol

My wife and I don't exchange gifts either, I told her every day is christmas, get what you want when you want it...saves a lot of aggravation... and yes, your friends wife is tacky.... cool

I figure someone foolish enough to do that has crossed the line of "if you have nothing nice to say" and would get an earful of nothing nice to say from me.

I've been friends with her husband for quite some time. I'm pretty sure he's embarrassed by the concept. He just needs to grow a set. Seems like being intimidated by your wife is becoming more and more common.

I'm of no help, we only exchange gifts within family and I have some very close friends I could ask anything of and I'm sure they'd help.

That sais, if you're that close to exchange, I see no foul because we give blatant hints within our family, lol.
