I spent the weekend working with grizzly several of them. Moose are obviously more formidable than I thought. A side note. My German shepherd was fun to watch when I came in smelling like a grizzly. She had no idea what it was and was fun to watch. She was very interested in my pants froom knee down and my boots( had steped in some fresh scat hidden in the pine. chips) . Border collie cared less.

Moose scare me more than bears. When a moose puts its ears back while facing you you know it’s on!

I have a friend who lived in Fairbanks for about 10 years. He said moose were more dangerous than the bears.

I would agree with that statement.

It appears the bear in this video agrees with your friend.

Even taking on a cow would be a chore. Between kicks from long legs and worse the effectiveness of pawing your noggin I'd find something not armed as well.

I recall one late September evening long ago. I was camped on a sandbar trying to fix my outboard. I had already killed a moose that year so was not in the market for another. I ended up crawling back into a log jam to get away from the bull that was convinced he needed to hurt someone. I was to blame for all those snapping and popping noises coming from the fire. His ears were back and his eyes were red.....with hair standing up all over his neck and withers.

I didn't sleep much that night.

Just as he gave up and was walking away stiff-legged, a dang beaver cut down an alder just off in the darkness. That crack of the brush falling set him off again and he was back looking ready to rumble.

Moose here are troublemakers. Much more than bears.

I shoot them with ball bearings with my trusty slingshot. The ball bearings sear into their neck, just below the ears , or their rear, sometimes causing them to kick out before they run. The ear shots really turn them nice, just like a Quarter horse doing a spin ...

The times they have just hung out not wanting to let me into my own dang property is when it's war, and I shoot them with all my strength with those bearings. When they hit in the ribs, they THONK as loud as beating a drum.

They act as if they own the place.....sheesh.

I keep some 12 gauge bean bag rounds and cracker shells handy just for that purpose. I hate getting chased in my own yard

grin Yes Sir, that will work.

Something satisfying, for me, using my sling shot and seeing that bearing going the speed of sound into their neck ... grin I can make them spin just as pretty as the finest performance Quarter horses doing a 180 rollback or 365 spin.

I have become quite adept with that sling.

Haha, it was the guys on here that told me not to worry about bears, mountain lions, or wolves when I went to the PNW for the first time turkey hunting. They said forget those, what you need to worry about is moose! If you see a cow or especially a cow with calves, then you better back out or leave the area. Moose will kill you!!

And no, that video was not what I expected! She didn’t wait to be dinner, she flat said “Not today Satan!!”
