If you want a really nice hoop I'd recommend Riverine Traders, Mike- "Muskrat" on Trapperman does an excellent job, I've had several beavers hooped by him.

I caught a bunch of black ones out of one colony 2 years ago. Left it alone last year, just went back today and made one 330 set as I saw there wasn't a ton of activity there yet.

You got your first question answered thoroughly, but the second is, Yes, black beaver lots at FHA often bring considerably more than similar size and grades of typical brown beaver.

Some look black and some look really dark brown. Is it the lighting? I’ve caught a really dark kit but I wouldn’t say it’s black.
