I have always had heat in my fur shed and now I don't. My question will my fur dry ok with just a fan blowing. I have some rats on stretchers and I am not happy with how they are drying. It may be this is just not my normal. The temps are right at freezing at night and about 40 for highs. It is going to get colder.

I’ve had no heated, except while skinning, for 50 years and all was fine. I do blow fans particularly during wet humid weather.

My shed only has heat while I'm in it. Usually let fire die out long before I leave and have had no issues.

Yes, they will dry ok.
I've never dried fur in heated shed. Never had trouble drying fur in unheated area, with fan(s) moving air.

I just use my unheated uninsulated garage as a fur shed, and usually with no fan, and my raccoons dry just fine.

It just takes longer with no heat. You will be fine.

Its all about the humidity.
Low humidity and low temps about 10c is optimum for the best drying.

Well I doubt he has had low humidity this last week.

Never tried to dry without heat, I do like a low heat though, around 60 to low 60s, I dried with a wood stove for years, but I prefer to dry with electric now, if available. The wood heat dries faster and tends to cause stiff necks on cats and coyotes and "crinkly" hides on thin hided critters, especially those dried grease out like rats.

It hasn't rained for a day so maybe the humidity is dropping. Supposed to start raining again tonight. For us it is pretty humid and warm, it should be freezing by now. Thanks to all that replied, the rats feel a little better today so maybe they will dry ok.

Mine isn’t heated. Air circulation is everything. Put a fan on them when drying and they come out great.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

That’s what I keep my garage at, but I gotta get a low temp dehumidifier, humid as heck in there. I usually bring my stuff into the furnace room to dry, but it’s a constant 22C.

Here in winter it is very dry,
I have a cold room in the basement at a constant 10 c all winter.
Frost scraped beaver dry in 2-3 days.
