Youth are the future of the Sport ! She has spent time in my pickup tending traps since the age of 6 months. She understands it takes an investment of time , materials and energy to profit. She will correct any adult who portrays trapping in a negative light. She was raised a trapper in a rural community never ashamed to be that girl ! Take a kid trapping !

Thanks for sharing. I agree, if we don’t do a better job of recruiting, the sport will die.

Great pics. I wouldnt refer to trapping as a sport though,it has negative connotations for a commercial activity and gives the antis ammunition.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I agree it’s a poor habit ! Noted, I will refrain from using that language in the future. It is more of a necessary control of varmints for me as I have already come to the realization that I will never recoup the expense. So not a business per se. it takes all of us to make this work.

Nice! I’m with Boco on the sport thing. I always cringe when I hear “recreational” trapping or it referred to as a sport. I was surveyed by our Fish and Wildlfe dept about last year’s beaver take and one of the questions was whether my take was damage control or recreational. I said neither, it was commercial fur harvest.
