Soooo, I was at a customer's home today and they were having a new water heater installed. It is a Bradford White 40 gal. electric model. Anyway, out of curiosity, I asked what the cost was. Homeowner said, right at $6,000.!? Holy crap! I'm looking at mine and it's likely beyond its life expectancy. Rest assured, mine will cost nowhere near that! Good Lord, folks really get hosed when they lack basic mechanical skills!

Check out Home Depot or Lowes or Menardes. $6,000 is nuts. Thats not even close to what they are. Less by far.

I work for Home Depot. Apparently, if you live in a suburb of Minneapolis, you are happy to fork over ridiculous $$$ for simple problems. I'm sure, the water heater quit and it was an "emergency". For kicks, I looked at Home Depot's website and found the average cost to have a similar unit installed by them, parts, labor, water heater etc. is around $1950. Which still seems like plenty, but quite reasonable compared to the "ambulance chasers"!

Nope, I did a double take and asked if they were serious. Sure enough.
