Yukonjeff those appear to be Artic lamprey Lampetra camtschatica the larvae are there sure interesting in their development

ps ; anyone that has used "twister tail jigs" is the mymic of the larvae lampreys swimming

Yes, correct they are Arctic lamprey. You might have see their round, red, sucker marks on salmon.

As far as prep to cook. I simply cut the head off and cut it into short hotdogs size pieces, and sauté in butter with a pinch of salt and pepper. They are good baked too.

Yes, with the guts in. Think canned sardines, taste about the same.

I got thinking about not gutting them , then I realize they are basically a leech they likely have almost nothing for a digestive system if they feed on blood

Saw Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs harvesting eel. They seemed a lot slimier than the ones in your post. Real interesting to see how it's done on the edge of the ice like that.
