Wonder if the factory has a backdoor code, or combination on file for the old school dials?

Gun safes are one of the things they typically deeply discount for black friday at many stores. FYI Yes Really? That is great news!

Wonder if the factory has a backdoor code, or combination on file for the old school dials? They do but it is a pain in the rear to obtain. I bought a safe at Cabelas with a manual dial. I hauled it home in my pickup. I was reading the instruction sheet on operating the dial which included the code while i waited for my neighbor to arrive to give me a hand hauling it into my house. I gave the lock a try and was able to unlock and open it the first try. My neighbor pulled into my yard and for some brainless reason, I folded up the paper and laid it on the shelf in the open safe. As we were getting ready to move the safe inside, i closed the safe door. As it was closing, I noticed the instruction sheet on the shelf of the safe. I puckered up as the door closed and my son, about 5 or 6 at the time, closed the handle wanting to be helpful. Then I remembered you had to spin the dial in order for the lock to lock. I thought, wow that was a close call. As I was reaching for the handle to open the door again, my son gives the dial a good spin. So, I had to call the company. They emailed me a special paper to request the code. I had to sign the paper and have it notarized. Then they mailed me the code. They would not email it. Fortunately, because it was new safe, I did not have to involve the police. Apparently, if you loose the code after you have owed it for a time, you need a police statement proving it is your safe and not stolen. I only had to submit a copy of the receipt proving it happened the day that I purchased it.

I believe his point was more about liberty safes giving the backdoor safe coats out to cops like they have done recently. I will never buy one of their products now.

Thiesens has a 42 gun safe for $350 on its Black Friday sale Not a fire safe I would guess, just a "locker"?

And sardine can metal thickness. 14 gage steel which is .078 or 5/64". 30 minute fire rating. A little better than a cardboard box but just about as easy to get into.

Thiesens has a 42 gun safe for $350 on its Black Friday sale Cool, thanks Jayme. I’m looking at a couple that are waterproof also. Well as waterproof as they get anyway. 2’ for 7 days. Living on the river, might be a good idea. Never had water on main floor in house but had a few inches in the shop a couple times.
