Rifle opens next weekend but I wanted to sit in a blind this weekend in the evenings.

We always have pigs to kill--especially when you dump a few sacks of corn 75 yards away.

This is my third sit in a row. Not one pig!

After all of the cussing and complaining about the destructive little (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman), I miss them. I know they'll be back.

Here's a pic of the draw I am hunting. A beautiful evening and seeing some nice deer.

BC--from the blind.

I'd say enjoy it while you can. Next weekend they will probably spook a big buck away before he gets in range.

I know. You are 100 percent right.

One (the only) positive thing about having lots of pigs is training my boys how to shoot actual animals. I bet my 16 year old has shot in the hundreds. It's hard to get that experience just shooting deer.

I just heard some on the river. So they're obviously still in the hood.

NC, how long does it usually take them to find the bait?

Not long, usually. There's a feeder in the area too.

We had almost no acorns this year. Normally they're all over us gorging themselves.

To be clear, I'm usually cussing them. It's the itchy trigger finger talking today.

Pretty scenery but would be prettier without those ugly turbines to mar the picture.

Whole southern view now has them. I don't love it but have gotten used to it.

If theyre like ours, dont worry, theyll be back. We were going on almost an entire week with no one getting any pics or sightingsuntil Saturday evening when we saw a couple as we came through the back gate.
We keep in touch with surrounding landowners and a place to the East a few miles is now inundated with them. Only a matter of time before they return.

Do you eat them or toss them? I heard they carry some bad stuff and can be full of worms.

I throw a small one on the smoker every now and then. Mostly leave them where I shot them to feed the coyotes. We normally shoot 50-75 a year from deer stands, the truck, the porch, etc.

Despite what some may say, they are not great eating in my opinion--unless young and small.

I shot a boar with 1.5" tusk in Florida once. It was edible but I didn't think it was good. Tough...

I've done caught 27 in the last 10 days in my trap. Three different groups.

Still got a ways to go though, saw a group of 10 tonight when I drove in. I use 1 or 2 for sausage making every year, but I'm overrun with the SOBs. They eat up everything and root up my pasture and my yard. Dang dogs run em out of the yard, but they come at 3-4 in the morning and even the dogs say screw it, aint barking no more, even they got to sleep.

I can send you some BC if you want them!

I killed a 300 pound sow in the Tarsus forest in Turkey, and that thing tasted nasty. I ended up throwing it all away.
