I actually just read similar stories about MN and WI. People would rather "game" than hunt.

I have nothing clever to put here.

As I have said many times before, "I just can't die soon enough".

I have nothing clever to put here.

You can look at the COVID spike...people apparently just wanted out of the house and hunting was one of those things to do. License sales nation wide are back to precovid levels.

Deer hunting is huge here still. We are a rural farming county and its a part of life. Actually its crazy here. Man made blinds in sight of the roads everywhere.

Japan calls their young men grass eaters. They’d rather play videos and just exist than take up any dating or marriage responsibilities. I am seeing similar here. It’s a combination of a few other things besides video games but a lot a 20 something’s are pretty useless anymore.

We use to sell well over a million licenses if I remember correctly.

Not true in northern NYState. Hunting pressure remains high, a yearling buck has a tough time to survive his 1st fall with antlers.

Youngest Son brought a girl home to meet us. I asked her if she liked to cook. She said "Ive never really had the need to". I was speechless.

Back in the day a fella would nail 2x4s to a tree for steps and a chunk of 2x12 up in the tree to sit on. Now it's ladder stands and the plastic precast shelter blinds, elevated blinds etc. People used to hunt to put meat on the table. Now it's a sport that involves a side by side to get to the stand.
I visited with a guy last week that was with a group of 10 that had drove to NE from PA to hunt with an outfitter. I looked up the outfitter and he starts at just under $6000 per hunt for whitetail. One of them was a he/she with a man bun, long hair and skinny jeans

Do what you can with your family, friends and community to encourage a passion for the outdoors.

Otherwise, if a kid wants to play Playstation, the kid is going to play Playstation.

I'm lucky. My kids took to the outdoors. Who knows if it will last when they start careers, get married and have kids.

I got a call from school that my grandson had an unexcused absence for the past 3 days. I could have told them that being he rode with me to the deer woods !

I had to sign my son into school late last week. Fill out reason late - Had to find his first deer ever shot with a bow - much more important than school. Secretary just looked up and said - You got any photos? We are blessed to live in a rural area with a small school as well.

$6000 is a bargain for most people.
All they have to do is show up and be able to shoot.

No work on their part = pay someone else to do it for you
