My good friend found a 90 year old hunting license in the stock of his old rifle. Gotta check it out [video:youtube]https://youtube.com/shorts/MxNoxxWWdaE?feature=shared[/video]

Back in the early 80's I purchased a Md12 at a auction sale. When I got home I took the recoil pad off and found hunting lics from 1919 to 1927. I tracked down the family and gave them to his grandson.

That’s awesome that you were able to track them down, they will definitely treasure that.

That’s pretty cool. I didn’t know keeping hunting licenses in the stock was a thing. My old marlin 336, circa 1953 has a family history of the rifle inside the stock. My dad started it when he shot his first buck with it, I continued it when I shot my first buck with it and then my daughter who shot her first buck with it.

Eh...wot?

wasn't the stock , but the grips on an old post WWI Pre WWII 38spl we owned for a while.

think Model 10 before they called it that , got the year down to 1920 to 1927

it was a guys name written inside the grips , it appears he was a security guard many years ago around Rockford ILL that is where that last name is common now any way.

back when banks were hiring armed guards because the bonny and clydes were running around

the worry was real
A guy at our range had his mother in her 80s at the range shooting she worked at a bank for many years the bank manager gave her the bank pistol because he knew she and her husband shot in the 1960s when he felt the bank no longer needed a pistol

pristine condition Mauser 7.65 since it never left the drawer at the bank from the 20s to 60s
she was late 80s and this was pre covid she was showing us her pistol so she would be in her 90s now.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

In the stock of my grandfathers Stevens single shot were two 20 gauge shells. I thought that was pretty cool.

That is a cool story! Any idea what that gun would be worth?

My older grandpa was at an auction in the 80s and thought man that really looks like my brothers model 12 from when we were kids and bought it and when he got home he took the butt pad off and his brothers hunting license was still there.

Amazing! Having a history of the animals shot is a great idea. Gunna have to think of something like this to do with my kids
