Ha! I only kill little Johnnies or little Jennys now. Enough to fry and enough to make jerky. I don't think I've eaten a deer that was older than a yearling in the last 10 years.

No sense screwing with tough raggedy meat like Ronnie when you don't have too. You east Texas boys will eat anything! I have a lot of little Jennys here to turn into jerky.

Ear tagging is far the midwest. At least that is how they did it in Iowa.

Down here, we just learn em and call em by what they are.

Still do it old fashioned way here too in Texas in my neck of the woods. The top pic is from Texas. Its, just a big place. 10K acres.

Middle pic is right here in Milam County, 30 minutes from Hearne processing some Jennies into backstrap for frying and some for jerky. Most my family still hunt on farms less than 200 acres.

Last pic is in Iowa. I worked there for several years cause the money and tips were awesome, but the experience not so much. Really took the juice out of me as far as deer hunting goes. Folks have no idea how bad that industry has gotten.

Great job nephew! People don’t realize the superb marksmanship it takes to hit such a small target! Anyone can hit one of them 300 pound big 10 deer ! Plus you don’t have to call all your buddies to help drag it out. That way your primo hunting spot remains a secret.

But next time clean it up little better before pics. You missed a spot of Rhondas milk there on his mouth .
