My grandson will start hunting next year and would like to know if anyone has this crossbow and if it is any good . Cabelas has it at $199. Dont know anything about crossbows and have never looked at them.

With crossbows, you get what you pay for. I remember reading about killer instinct (makes that model) failures that included limbs breaking causing massive failure. I would never want to have a crossbow fail when my kid or grandkid had his cheek resting on the stock. Wicked ridge makes affordable crossbows with a solid reputation. Get online and search up some reviews, youll find the info you are looking for. Good luck

Cabelas sold some made by Barnett a few years ago called the Vindicator. What we use and works well.

I have has a mission 320 I bought from my daughter to use when she was 9 or to so 19 years ofr so ago. She killed deer with it and so have both the boys. My 13 year old killed 2 with it this year including his largest buck to date.
I was blown away they had a new one for sale on the shelf this year. It's un heard of for a company not to introduce new models every few years and quit making the old ones . But there it was. Mission is made by mathews. There are faster one out there but that one has served us well. I have replaced the strings and cables once a few years ago. Not becuse I thought they needed it but becuse the bow shop said they recommended them be replaced every year or two and I had had it over 8 years at that time and it was not worth raking a chance of it blowing up with the kids shooting it.
