Strohs used a be very popular in the Midwest and at one time was one of the largest brewers in the US. Many old brands such as Pabst, grainbelt, etc are now brewed under contract by other brewers. The History of all of these breweries is fascinating. Many made missteps along the way that they could not recover from. Others could just not survive the changing times, especially after Budweiser went National.

I miss Dixie beer. Fresh oysters and Dixie was a perfect pairing. It was a gulf coast thing.

Started drinking coors light in the eighties, when it was still made in colorado. It was never as good after they started producing it nationwide.

Locally rolling rock was pretty good, but they got bought out and moved production elsewhere. Again not as good.

Good deal of it has to do with the quality of the water.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

Way back when I used to drink, the absolute worst beer I've ever had was Cincy.

I think you can add Pearl to the list. I remember going to the deer camp years ago, and most guys drank Budweiser. But the richest guy in camp drank Pearl. Rumor was he drank Pearl, because he knew no one else would be stealing his beer.

Back in the 60's, my dad drank Carling Black Label. I tried one about 15 years ago. I was able to drink half the can.
I used to drink a lot of Schlitz malt liquor.

ergo, bibamus.

I remember seeing that beer tht was in a white can that said beer in black letters. I also remember red white and blue. I was along different times when my parents would stop at Vans liquor store in east dubuque when it was downtown. They had all kinds of different brands there. My parents bought cigarettes they weren't shopping for beer though.

Dad drank Strohs mostly. Farmer I worked for always had some Blatz for us at the end of the day.

Family friend was the 1,000,000 th fan at Riverfront stadium. Gift package include many cases of Burger and Hudepohl. Drank free for quite a while.

I recall drinking Lucky Lager on Tarague Beach, Guam in 1968 for 10 cents a can. Needed the old "church key" to open them.

They still selling that? We used to get tanked on it and sang that jingle at the top of our lungs in perfect key. You bet.
