Grown men shooting small bucks ticks me off too. It’s the old “I drove all this way I’m taking something home!” mentality.

Well I was planing on going into the coastguard a few months after my girlfriend did. I had some things to get taken care of first. I droped her off a meps and the next morning got a call from her to come pick her up she could not go becuse she was pregnant.
Needless to say that changed my plans.

Don't know if you count the coastguard as military since they are under department of transportation? But I figured it would be a good way to move into federal law inforcement if I didn't want to put in 20 in the coastguard and i would get skills useful outside of the military. Also after a few years on an icebreaker in Alaska I figured I could get moved to a small boat station on the cost and enjoy riding motorcycles and fishing.

I'm not going to tell someone what they can and can't shoot or what a trophy is to them. That's a bad way of thinking and a big part of all the antler obsession I can't stand. A trophy to them very well could be a small buck to you.

On the other hand if the person shoots a young buck and then isv not proud of it and talks down about it I do get frustrated and ask then why did you shoot it then.

You probably won't like me much then! Deer season for me is one weekend a year. A small buck fills the freezer just as well as a big one.

Funny story. I worked for a consultant that was 55 years old and never had a haircut, so ya his hair was long. He was helping the laborer auger a hole in the ice with a powered ice auger. His hair came untucked from his coveralls and got wrapped around the auger. Darn near broke his neck but no matter what he wouldn't cut hair to unravel it from the auger.

Primadonna’s preaching hunting ethics or standards that have no based on conservation or regulation tick me off. If the herd is not compromised then sit in the corner quietly.

People who leave shopping carts in the parking lot instead of putting them in the racks provided. People who put an item in their shopping cart and then decide they don't want it and leave it on any shelf they are near.

My father told me that if you're too big to do the little things, then you're too little to do the big things.

I don't get the obsession with pocket knives.
I don't carry one, haven't for decades.
I have a couple laying around where they are needed or used. For example, one in the garage where I break down boxes before we take them to the dump.
But I don't carry one. In fact I don't carry anything in my pockets at all on a daily basis. I also don't use or carry a cell phone.

I only put the wallet in my pocket when I go somewhere in the car.
I hate having stuff in my pockets.

what does one need a pocket knife for on a daily basis?

Even when I go fishing I don't have a use for a pocket knife. I carry a hemostat that can cut fishing line and also remove hooks from fishes mouths.

You all remind me of my wife, she has all sorts of junk she carries in her purse. The thing weighs about 5-10 lbs. I tease her about, I call it the samsonite.
She keeps all the stuff in there "just in case". Of course in the 40 some years we have been married she has never had the case come up that used any of the assorted junk that she carries.

My EDC knife is a clip-on, never even know it's there. My EDC is the handiest, most used tool I probably have. I use it every day. Having it is not an obsession, it's normal.

Every time I have come across a cheese cake its been in close proximity to a kitchen, where there are, I don't know all sorts of instruments for cutting various food stuffs.
No need for pocket knife in a kitchen.

In my 60 some years of living I've never had to stab someone inn the throat either.

Silly meme.

give me a couple of examples of what you use it every day for if you don't mind. I'm serious, I can't see what I'd ever use one for.

Maybe a pocket knife is like a cell phone to many people nowadays.
I've been told all about the things I HAVE to have a cell phone for.

But some how I manage quite happily thru every day without one.
