Think about Bass 10 guys as he deals with heartbreak. I've been in his shoes. It is hard.....

Thanks Jbyrd, we may not always (maybe ever) see eye to eye in college football but you can hunt or fish with me anytime. My girl lost her battle with Lymphoma yesterday. She was 8 years and 10 days old.
She was truly my best friend. Came to work with me everyday, went to see customers with me and made deliveries with me. We built my cabin/house together sleeping on a mattress on the floor when we had stud
walls and no heat. She was a beast on the Iowa pheasant and there isn't another dog I'd want to hunt behind. There are all levels of attachments and unfortunately or fortunately mine was through the roof with her.
Till we meet again Remi Girl I will love you forever and you left a hole in my heart that will never fully mend.

Ah man, condolences and sorry to hear this, many of us can relate...They are truly family members.

Wow-that's a seriously tough one to take. Lost a couple over the years-they sure amazing companions, hunting partners and best buddies-like always! So sad to hear-she will be in your best memories forever.

Thanks all, and boy you got that right. The amount of pain I am feeling is off the charts, they say time heals all wounds and boy do I hope so.

I have no words other than you’re not alone. I and my boys were a mess for several days after we had to put mine down. He passed away in 2015 and I still get emotional when folks bring him up. He was a working dog like yours and my one in a million.

oddly enough i also had a black lab whose name was Remi.
had to put her down about 3.5 years ago now... not a day goes by i dont miss that dog.
they arent here for a long... but theyre here for a good time thats for sure!

Prayers sent. It's been over 7 months since my redbone died and I still get sick to my stomach any time I think about it.

Sorry for your loss Bass10, I still get the sniffles when I think of my black lab Phoenix, she died 20 years ago. Now we have a chocolate lab, her name is Remi.

The loss of a special K9 is a hard thing to swallow. It's like losing a family member. The pain will never completely away...but neither will the memories.

May sound a bit morbid but..., I've never felt the pain of a family member or friend passing as I have my dogs.

It gets better Bass10 but it'll always be with you in certain circumstances.
May you both hunt together again.

Boy are you right. It doesn't feel right that my pain is so much greater than when I lost my dad a year and a half ago. But honestly at 58 and you're with them literally 24/7/365 it is
just different. And given the chance I'd rather spend time with my Remi Girl than most family members, ha, ha!

I dont know how i missed this. Prayers of healing for you brother. Losing a pet is like losing a child. I really feel your pain.
