If you are asking me I used my one and only buck tag the first morning that we had a temp change. 65-80 all week last week. Rain on Friday and 35 Saturday morning = dead buck at 7.34 eastern time.

Nah he started it end of last week . Here he jabbed with the nocturnal illness. LONG before I ever commented. I had a thread last week about even my does had started moving at night due to the high temps. He said I was crazy does don't go "nocturnal" He claims he is getting mostly midday scrape activity . Just wondering where his "mostly midday pics are. Might be different if he had not posted any pics. He put up some around the same times I describe most of my activity was showing up. But heaven forbid he get evidence that I was right. Just asking to see what age buck he had moving in the middle of the day ...

Nice young typical 11 pointer. Seen him regularly on camera. Guessing 2 1/2. Figure he could get real nice in a few years. Last 4 or 5 days more pics of mature deer and a a few new mature bucks. A found that mature bucks well switch up their core home ranges around the end of November. Big buck my boy shoot last year we had regular pics from January till he shed couple pics in June then nothing tell about 5 days before my boy. Shot him
Last year our #2 buck was on camera regularly from Sept till mid November then not hardly at all. This year same buck was opposite hardly no pics of him until last 5 days.

It has cooled of here a lot in last 5 days

Past a really big 8 tonight. Thought it was an 8 that we had on camera a lot that was young. Got home and looked back and it wasn't the same one. Hope I didn't make too big of a mistake letting it walk. I'm sure it's on camera so I'll be able to review my decision. I'd pretty much wrote the season off for the year and wasn't going to hunt until the late doe season but the last couple days has changed my mind.


A couple I wouldn't pass on

I might be wrong about the age but it seems to me a lot of people seem to age our Kansas deer older than I think they are. Seems some of our deer can get pretty decent body wise and rack wise by 2 1/2.

Those last 2 pics are a 5+ year old deer in my opinion.
Sure some bucks can have a decent rack at 2 years but in a free range WILD deer, there really is almost no way they are gonna big bodied bucks.
Seen 100s of bucks weighed for contests over the years. Seldom will a buck dress over 200lbs.
Have seen a few hit 230-240 lbs dressed out but very few would gross over 140" antler score.
The buck I killed 2 weeks ago dressed out 207# but only had a 115ish rack.


Guessing he's a 5+ year old.
I shot an 8 year old 5 years ago that I tried killing for 4 years. Body wise, I doubt he would have ever weighed 200# live weight.
He just never grew big bodied even in his prime 5/6 year old age.

No I haven't it would be interesting to know for sure. The top buck in pics I've seen for the last 3 years and would think he is 4 1/2. For sure no older than 5 1/2. The bottom buck I'd call 4 1/2.

See not that hard or was it .? Weird how the date of the only daylight pic you can find doesn’t support your theory of “going dead” until the 20th . In fact it was when you claimed no activity at all Just saying. But good luck . You are right I think about aging those deer. Based on our bucks. But like yessir says Kansas grows them big and fast
