I don't know if this has been on here before or not but was wondering if there is a formula for sizing coon according to weight? Example a 15# coon equals a 1X, a 18-20# equals 2X and so forth.

I doubt it would be very accurate if coon are anything like bear,a spring bear will weigh quite a bit less in spring than he did in fall, yet the hides will stretch to the same size.

Thanks Boco I didn't know if anyone had ever came up with a estimated size according to weight formula or not. Although I sold a coon some years back in a heaviest coon contest which weighed 28# and three weeks later it weighed 33# just a gimmick trying to get me to sell more coons to him!

Weight is not a good indicator of size for grading say 2,3 or 4xl and beyond. From my experience over time a 23 lbs. male will stretch longer than a 28-30 lbs. female. Most of that length comes from the males having larger heads and shoulder areas and thus drop down on the stretcher much further.

Interesting post Bryce! I'd have guessed a 23-25lb coon would have stretched the same regardless of sex. I really do learn something new on here every day.
