Alton Brown's turkey recipe will change your mind about "dry" turkey.

I’ll check it out! I like a nice roast bird…better than ham anyways. My buddy has a smoker and she’s gonna put a paper bag around the Turkey soaked in oil and spices and smoke it. I’m intrigued with that!

Smoking a turkey , nothing special.
But my dish to share is a couple of Butternut Squash pies.
In the oven early tomorrow and cooled to serve after dinner.

My wife and I learned a new word two weeks ago while moose hunting in Newfoundland….” Couldents”

Translation…leftovers. “ We couldn’t eat it all last night, so we’re having it for lunch today”.

We occasionally switch it up to prime rib .

This year we are going to the annual Thanksgiving dinner held by my MIL and her family . 75 -100 people in a rented hall somewhere . A couple of turkeys will be cooked on site , but the rest will be pot luck . Most of the dishes consist of mystery ingredients ( prolly week old leftovers from the back of the fridge ) and labeled " special casserole " .

I'm gonna bring a couple mayonnaise packets with me , find some packaged store bought rolls on site , grab some turkey , and make a couple sliders to keep me from starving to death until we find an open restaurant on the way home .

Do you think there will be any furbearer dishes?!? Gosh I cannot imagine eating raccoon. They stink so bad when skimming and fleshing! Barf-a-roni!

For those who don't like dry turkey , try cooking it in an oven bag, and don't for get to shove some whole oranges and limes up its arse . You won't be disappointed

Pizza here as well. We were supposed to go to inlaws but oldest boy is sick and wife says her throat is starting to hurt so I guess we are staying home. After the pizza pie we will have pumpkin pie for dessert.

Just me, Patrice and her mother this year. Those 2 are making turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, yams, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie for dessert. I am going to cut wood and stay out of the way til late afternoon.

Traditional here. Turkey, dressing, mashed taters, sweet taters, squash, peas, some new weird squash that is supposed to taste like mashed potatoes but we shall see, corn, homemade bread, cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, relish trays, cheese trays, pumpkin pie, mincemeat pie, apple pie...

and cranberry orange muffins for breakfast.

It's just Christine and myself this year. We're having a duck with all the traditional fixings and there are 4 different pies. smile smile
But just in case company/family should drop in, there's a chicken standing by in the fridge just waiting to be roasted.

Ground stone mustard and honey glaze at the end. Turned out delicious. I am lazier than if it was Turkey
