I have a Coleman canoe I want to paint. It's made of that plastic like their coolers are. Just wondering what kind of paint I could use that would last awhile. Thanks

There are also paint varieties that when applied help make your canoe glide a lot more. May want to find out if they are available and usable on your material,

For painting plastic you might try an adhesion promoter. You can get this at an auto parts store.

I painted a royalex canoe a camo pattern. I used rustoleum and it has lasted for years with an occasional touch up where I scaped some paint off.

Polypropylene is extremely resistant to adhesion. Even with a top end polypropylene primer you will have andhesion issues. Pretty much similar plastic to a gallon milk jug !

If I remember right those plastic canoes are made of PE, not PP. Krylon makes a special paint that is said to adhere well to PE.

Yup, PE.
But expands and contracts a lot with temps, so any paint struggles to stick.

Will also need to etch the aluminum before painting.
That said, no big deal to touch up every so often with a quick.sprat

They may very well be Polyethylene. Adhesion will still be marginal at best !

As stated above, contact West Systems.

They make an epoxy product called G Flex that I have used multiple times to repair cracked polyethylene skimmer boxes used with koi ponds. I have repaired skimmer boxes that are still in use five years later. These boxes are full of water all the time and freeze solid in the winter.

If anyone makes a long lasting paint for your project it will be West Systems.
