for coyotes with a small stick in between the traps? I’m thinking of trying it. If the first trap don’t get the coyote, hopefully, it will step over the stick into the other trap on the other side of the stick. I would probably use drags in this situation. Have any of you tried this method?

I've done it and have went back to using just one. If I want 2 traps I just move one further down the trail and give myself a chance at 2 animals. Coyotes are pretty easy to guide in a trail set.

No, I would just use one trap and two sticks.
If it is a well used trail you might want to add several more traps on the same trail. Traps plus snares works Great.

I've done it in a snowmachine track, put a stick in the trail and a trap on either side of it. It works, but for canines you want it to look natural, so I would put an alder limb in the trail where it was going through tag alders and it would be natural for there to be an alder limb poking up out of the snowmachine track, bed a trap either side of it, and then drive over everything.

Caught my first fox when I was about 12 yo using two No 1 jump traps set on a packed walking trail in deep snow,that a fox had been using,
I dispatched him with a bearpaw snowshoe,lol.
I used that same set to take several more before I switched over to snares.

If I find a well used game trails or suspected subtle trails there will be several species using that same trail over the course of a couple weeks. I utilize the trail setting method regularly using multiple single set traps with the appropriate sized stepping sticks or placed stones on end to do the same job. I do this often where I have several traps set in the same fashion.along that same good trail.

I have had multiple catches on cats, coons, coyotes and skunks all along the same trail. It is a very productive method for me. I don't use two traps, never saw the need to do so. These traps are all set on top of the ground, no digging of a trap bed etc. Just stabilize the trap well with sticks or small rocks to do this so the trap will not move at all. You can learn to do this very well with some practice.

I run all these sets on drags or extension cables so as not to tear up the trail and disrupt the travel lane whatsoever. You don't want an animal to stall and burn out a portion of the trail.

I may use multiple individual traps on trails but not two traps at one trail set. Last season after catching two cats on same trail I broke my personnel record of possum catches on that same trail.
