Beavers aren’t the trees’ only foe; sea level rise from human-caused climate change is increasing inundation of the soil surrounding the basin, exposing the trees to damaging saltwater. The author is obviously a liberal and is simply regurgitating ignorant liberal talking points. He lost all credibility with me right there.
Eh...wot?

The picture looks kind of strange to me, almost photoshopped .

That's stupid. The cherry trees in blossom are a major attraction and tourist site. It seems like they are intentionally allowing the destruction of an American tradition of walking amongst the historical Capitol cherry trees in Spring.
Keith They tore down the huge beautiful statue of general lee on his horse and melted it down. It was the largest attraction in Richmond, Virginia. Now all you have are a bunch of statues of people no one ever heard of and empty lots.

I've never seen beavers just girdle the back off the base of a tree. Wonder why they are just cutting the entire tree down like normal? They do that to sweet gum around here. I think they just want to kill them so something better comes in once the gum trees die. I am not saying that they are smart enough to figure that out, but it is possible that over hundreds of thousands of years, the beavers which habitually did that had an edge over the ones which didn't, which gave them, and their progeny an edge to persevere, while the ones that did not girdle to kill faded out.

That makes a lot of sense. I think you are right. Keith
