My Dad got two in NW PA, 5 pointer and a button buck, hes going back for doe only season in a week

Well so much for tradition. I grew up there and it always opened on the Monday following Thanksgiving. Haven't hunted there it a few years (obviously). There was a post here last week about traditional hunting on Thanksgiving has gone by the way for the most part. So glad I grew up when I did. Yep thought I'd run into a bunch of guys Thanksgiving morning on the game lands hunting pheasants but I had the whole place to myself !

You are correct that it is buck and doe concurrent for the first two weeks of regular rifle season, been that way for quite a while.
