gcs trapper G Joined: Dec 2006 coastal ny	Or...find a decent used Carolina skiff and be done with it, We built a lot of "clam boats" here, 16-20 feet, mostly flat bottom skiffs, AC plywood with glass over. Materials were cheap in the 70's, and the boats lasted pretty good, depending on who built them and what shortcuts they took... No one builds anything like that anymore, Most of the Baymen that are left get Carolina skiffs or something like that....

Build a boat, it's fun! I have built race boats and duck boats and it's always fun. Made a cool sculling boat out of cardboard taped together and then glass over the cardboard. Kinda looked like a stealth when I got done. Got some looks from the neighbors doing the float test in the summer at the lake. "Where Can A Man Find Bear Beaver And Other Critters Worth Cash Money When Skinned?"
