The hen could be stressed into a molt situation due to the trauma etc. About the rooster I don't know. When younger we raised 3 groups of laying hens, pullets, 1 year old layers, 2 year old layers with about 500-600 in each group. We had situations at times when we had severe T-storms with lots of loud thunder and lightning and egg production dropped dramatically for a period of time. That was 65 years ago so there may be more of that bred out of laying hens over time.
