I made these cutting boards for my wife's Christmas sale. I'm trying to figure out a price. What do you guys think they are worth? The small boards are roughly 12"X14"X1.75" The larger board is roughly 14"X20"X1.125" All of them are solid PA hardwood made from Maple, oak, cherry and some have black walnut. Give me some numbers to think about guys & gals.

I’m a sucker for anything handmade so I’d pay $75-100 without thinking about it.

Those sure are beautiful, Finster!
How many, and what type of people show up at the sale? That might help set your asking price.

Funny you say that, I am calling them "charcuterie boards" for the sale since that seems to be all the rage these days. The wife is expecting up to 2 hundred people. Her, and a few friends are getting together and selling crafts. The wife is selling paintings, crafts and a bunch of hand painted Christmas cards. Anyway, I was thinking of $50 for the smaller boards and $75 for the larger one. I just don't know if they will sell. I wouldn't pay that but then again, I can easily make them. Although, it is a good bit of time and work when you start with rough cut lumber.

They look like you know what you are doing So if you feel good about you ability craftmanship and how much you have put into making them Then you know what you think you should get for them At that point adjust up or down as you see fit in light of your goal in making an item that you hope will sell and make a fair sum of money for the sale of them .t ,And I would agree it might help if you do not display all that you have to sell If it looks like a limited sully is for sale people might think they better get on before they are all gone Nice work an god luck

Donate one to the Trapperman Defense Fund Auction. I think you might be shocked at what it will bring.

How much was the material worth to acquire, and how long did it take you to make them start to finish.
should not be hard to figure out what they are worth or at least what you need to get for them.

Around here I would expect to pay about $100 for the larger and $50-60 for the smaller.

They have some craft sales that are real touristy (I live in an area with a lot of expensive lake homes) where those boards would bring probably twice that.

If they were in a store, people would be comparing them to similar things made in China. But if they are in an environment where people are looking at a lot of handmade items, art, etc. they will pay more.

Depends on the crowd. In the larger cities here in ky they would bring 100-150 according to size. IF you take credit cards the younger crowd whip out the plastic and never blink. After all if they get into financial troubles they run to mom and dad .

I have made boards similar to these and donated to the local hospital, activity fund , for patients. Mine didn,t have a border on them. I also made some that were just a 10 x 16 red oak board, or a live edge slab with an interesting shape. I think they sold them for 25.00. .Mine had no finish on them . People will buy something for a worthy cause. They sell them with added , fruit or cheese , for christmas, or other events. I have probably , donated 30 boards, as well as bout 75 blue bird houses, Long handled shoe horns, 26 inch. They are a hot item for folks that have trouble reaching their feet. . Boot jacks to remove winter boots,12 inch x 3/16 flat wooden spoons , are a hit as well , Won't scratch new cook ware. I just do these projects , so I can putter around in the shop, Mostly scrap material. By donating , I help others. Your boards should be a hit , donate one for a lucky draw. Hope you sell out.old243
