when it comes to the number of wolves in MN.

I have a friend who hunts with 12 other hunters in northern MN. They haven't harvested a deer in the past 2 years. He said last year no deer were seen in 5 days of hunting. This year they decided not to hunt. Instead some of them went deer hunting out west. The DNR is pandering to the wolf lovers.

I will never understand how a judge in Maryland or California can make a decision they know nothing about.[/quote]

You cannot blame this on the DNR they are powerless. We have a governor who says there will be no wolf hunting as long as he is governor and a lot of hunters voted for him so that's where the blame lies. He has control over the DNR.

Although I agree with much of your premise, the DNR has been underestimating wolf populations long before Walz.

Has the moose population increased? I thought they wanted fewer deer up north to help with moose numbers?

Moose population continues to decline because of global warming.

Alaska has never been closed. As a matter of fact, some of the rural towns offer a nice bounty for wolves killed near the town.

I see there is a Wolf predation get together in Detroit Lakes the end of December at the Holiday Inn. Might have to go check it out, see how many factual speakers they have there.

If you want change, use the same tactics as the other side. Set up game cameras and get pictures. Go on Facebook and post picture of said puppy in neighborhood groups. Get lots of folks worked up quickly.

We even had one here this week. News of it quickly spread and Folks were all worked up about it![Linked Image]

I agree about the governor, but the DNR is covering the situation up with their numbers. 25 years ago, I was at a meeting in Little Falls where the DNR claimed the wolves numbered around 3,300. With no real natural predators, only a few seasons since that time, they claim the number is less than that today. Wolves are showing up in southern areas that never had them before.

The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

I texted Steve Porter about these meetings (he's the one leading them) and he said there are several scheduled over the next few weeks. You can find them on their facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/hunters4huntersmn

It has helped with the moose numbers in my area. We call it the “ dismal “ few.

Well, game wardens have an important job to do. And I respect them.
But, they are also usually outdoorsman themselves and are smart enough to know/ see what's going on.
They (can) turn a blind eye towards this wink
Just like a cop does when seeing someone without a seat belt on.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Farm from down by me (Clearwater area) is buying land and clearing it in Park Rapids area, turning it into tillable land. If a lack of deer cause a skid in land prices how many more acres will be clear cut? That is not something often discussed or considered but it's a very real thing. Farmland prices are out of control and it's going to cause massive deforestation if woodland loses or does not increase in value.
