I often wonder ? HOW someone would prove a 48 hr check law?? Even standing next to your snare with binoculars would be hard to prove = that you didn't check from some distance or flew over with a drone

I've used binoculars and or my spotting scope to check snares on many occasions it is a huge time saver when you have a lot of country and sets to check .

The Lopro locks are as trouble free as any other lock out there , I'm sure if you look long and hard you will find someone who doesn't like any of them ha ha .

You're friend along the snare line .

I think generally the way they would "prove it" would be if something was in your trap for more than two days without you removing it. Or of course if you weren't driving in the drainage where the traps were set. From my understanding, most drones you have to be fairly close, as in under a half mile, to operate.

It was a long day out in the mountains today. Scouting for sign can be a lot of work but always something interesting to see. In Montana we have rugged mountains full of pure wild things. In the brush along the slopes we have grizzlies at every turn and in the valleys we have city's full of antis. Anyway it will be time to meet my obligation to the Montana law in the morning with a 48 hour snare check. Let's hope for the best and I will post my success or lack of tomorrow.

Did you choose the lopro lock because of reg requirements? Did you make your own snares? Describe the snare you’re using please.

Good luck and hope your snares are full!

First I want to thank the trappers that offered their encouragement. I am sorry to say that my snares were empty today on my mandatory 48 check after hanging. You will notice from the photo that it is taken from a distance so as not to disturb the location. Look closely and you will see the snares hanging on my garden fence. The other day I said I was hanging snares. I said nothing about making sets with them. I know this may PO some of you but for me it's the best I could do being the Feds. stopped wolf trapping in my area a few days before the season began. So far I have not heard of any reimbursement check coming from the government for my time and expense. Maybe something will be included in the farm bill.
This post may seem a little odd but I wanted to draw attention to the never ending regulations imposed on hunting ,fishing and trapping in Montana. Also I am counting coup today on any Feds, Montana FWP or antis should they be following this post in hopes of finding me doing something illegal. Although it may be a smaller feather to hang on my coup stick every feather counts.

Different regions of Montana have seasons that are open. He's just hanging his on his fence. I hung several more wolf snares today here in Idaho, not on a fence lol.

West of the divide, I found a lot of wolves hanging where the mule deer were wintering, up pretty high and in pretty deep snow. That presented great snaring opportunities. Good luck. I hope you hang a bunch of them!

If any of you guys want to watch some good wolf hunting videos, search Luke Sterling from Montana hunting videos on YouTube. He calls them and has it dialed. His other hunting videos are very good too. Luke is one hard hunter.

Why don't you just get a job in comedy rather than waste our time reading your inane attempt to get high post numbers? Don't bother telling me not to read it, if I don't like it; I will never open another of your stupid messages.

I stopped paying much attention to him after he got his license suspended for a couple of years. I guess internet clout is more important than ethics.
