of the 18 pack I brought home from deer camp there were 15 eggs left in the carton I brought 6 dozen to camp

full front and middle row and 3 in the back left corner
styrofaom egg carton

of the 15 eggs 1 was cracked

2 were frozen

12 were normal

cxx
xxxxoxxxx
xxxxxxxox

the o is the location of the 2 frozen eggs
c is the location of the cracked egg

what makes 2 eggs in 15 be frozen and the other 13 not

yes these were in my beer fridge and it is a touch on the cold side , I was out of room in the main fridge
the location was the bottom shelf of the fridge so not even where the vent would have been blowing on it

I actually have no idea , I tossed those eggs because they weren't going to beat well and I only needed a dozen for supper

I am interested to hear the theories

Maybe the shell was a little thinner.

Now you have to get a .200 ball end for a zero to one micrometer and check the thickness on them egg shells:)

I've camped while beaver trapping, the eggs froze solid in the cooler.
50 BELOW zero wind chill. It was cold !

Just peeled them and cooked them for breakfast.
Why those froze ? Could be thin shell , or slight crack that you over looked.
Only thing I can think of.

your right bad representation

I got carried away with the x's but same basic idea it wasn't the end egg in either row

I also suspect a tiny crack or something I couldn't see , or didn't look hard enough to see

Maybe slightly different nutrient content in the egg itself that raised the freeze point? The shell isn't much of an insulator, cracked or not.

……. I always thought less booze in the frozen ones. Usually thaw them out and call them “company” beers. laugh

looking at a chart for freezing points of alcohol solutions it would appear 4.1% rounding to 5% for the chart would mean a 2.5f degree difference from water to 5% alcohol

new experiment save all the frozen beers from the middle of the 30 rack surrounded by unfrozen beer thaw them and pound 6 do you feel anything at all because it would seem they would have to be all water to be frozen while the others around it were not or there is more than one factor.

X2

Ever crack eggs and some seem like they have a little more Liquid in them ?

Possibly a slight variation in content allowed them to freeze sooner than others ?

have you ever seen a plastic water bottle flash freeze when hit

here is the explanation
https://www.sciencefocus.com/scienc...you-hit-a-bottle-just-out-of-the-freezer

here is a video if you haven't seen
maybe they are all that cold and the ones frozen got bumped
