I'm beside myself with happiness, none of the kids or grandkids expressed this much interest. My greatgrandaughter is fulfilling a lifetime of trapping for me by giving someone to pass it on to.

That is wonderful to have that. I’m pretty envious! (Well, in a good way)!

Great looking pelts newfox. Too bad you will lose 1 size by leaving the nose and whiskers on.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I wonder whether the local buyers at the association sales in NY dock that way?

Standard is from An inch ahead of the eyes if the nose and whiskers are left on the pelt. I suppose if a buyer doesnt use standard measure, then no need to use the size tarrif oval either.

That's great newfox. What a super story. I sell to a local private buyer and he wants nose and whiskers on his. All I do is trim off the outside fat part of the lips. He's a Seneca Indian crafter. I sell the rest at Hinsdale and there's a few crafters there also so I'm not sure it hurts the price so much. Same with the felt buyers. If I was shipping to a major auction house I'd probably look into exactly what paid the most and do it to their specs. All in all I've been happy with what I've got in return the last few years compared with major auction prices

Seems like I heard at one point NAFA was measuring for size with a machine that took a picture of the square inches per pelt? Wonder if FHA does the same now since they got a lot of NAFA's old equipment.
