Nope- not an Italian Shotgun
Other than me- Does anyone use one for woodworking, carving, painting, etc. The ancient Greeks realized that in nature, there was a proportional existence that created eye appeal. They developed a Mathematical Mean of 1:1.618, often referred to as the Golden Ratio, the ratio was applied in construction of the Parthenon and many other Greek structures. A 13th Century Italian Mathematician, Leonardo Fibonacci, invented an adjustable design tool that holds the Golden Mean Constant upon expansion or contraction of the tool.
Here’s one I made years ago but thought it’s a cool easy to make Christmas gift.

Following the Golden Ratio in woodworking and building definitely creates aesthetically pleasing results.

That is a very interesting tool.

Eh...wot?

I love the beauty of the Fib/Golden ratio sequence. It is in everything. Many things I do in art are based on the mathematical sequences of this, though it is by feel that I know it, because I am not strong in math at all. Like my feel of playing music by ear, tuning an instrument by ear. Not learning to read music .

There is a lot more to learn from Fibonacci (real name was Leonardo of Pizza). The series can also be used to confirm the Pythagorean theory, and can be applied to explain the placement of leaves around a central stem (ie. an artichoke, or a pine cone). Zookeeper
ps, the number can also be (1+ square root of 5)/2.

Leaves on a stem and spacing of branches around the trunk of a tree to allow sunlight to all the branches. Fibonacci series and its evidence in so many things is fascinating to me

I like the Mandelbrot set.

I think I found a plan in Fine Woodworking but here's a more recent one.

I guess I'm going to go out and get me a gauge, so I can figure out what looks good.
