I frequent the island next to Mindanao. I see Muslims around, but they are not a problem there.

Back in the nineties, one of my very best friends survived a Muslim attack on America Air Force personnel, living off base in the Philippines. They shot the Americans in the vehicles ahead of him, at an intersection and he had to push between the vehicles, while being shot at and race off, while being chased.
